Sí? No? Vale, Vale. Gracias.

Day 3. Day 3 of culture shock and frustration.

I got here alright. The flight went well, except that I got some beer on my new iPad. On the plane I went to the bathroom and at the same time also went the man sitting next to me. When I/we got back the man's beer had fallen on my seat... Where I had left my iPad. So basically my iPad was in a puddle of beer. Fortunately it still works.

The past three days I have been getting to know the area. Riikka, who spent the past semester here, has been a lot of help. I'm very thankful for everything she has done to help me.

The first day we pretty much just did some sightseeing. Yesterday Riikka showed me how grocery shopping here works and then she showed me my school. At school we had coffee with a friend who lives here in Malaga but did his exchange in Lahti a year ago.

Today was shopping day! I didn't take that much clothes with me so I had a good reason to shop for more. I also got a spanish phone number today.

The past tree days have been alright. I've been a little homesick, missing my boyfriend, but it has been getting better. The Spanish language has been the biggest problem. My landlord is so sweet, but I'm not able to really talk with her. "Sí, sí", "Vale", "Gracias". I should know more Spanish than that but I don't know where that knowledge is hiding. What surprised me a little bit is how cold it is here. The weather has been cool, 13°C, I'm wear my winter jacket outside. That's alright. But it's very cold inside! Today I got a new heater in my room, and it makes me very happy.

Yesterday I got the internet in my room. Before it couldn't reach this far. The first day I spent my time in the bathroom with my iPad. Why in the bathroom? It was the warmest room of the apartment (the best heater I guess) and I didn't have to speak Spanish there.


       

      

Päivä 3. Kolmas päivä kulttuuri shokkia ja turhautuneisuutta. 

Viimeiset kolme päivää ovat olleet alueeseen tutustumista. Riikka, joka vietti viime lukukauden täällä, on auttanut minua paljon. Olen todella kiitollinen kaikesta avusta jota olen saanut. 

Ensimmäisenä päivänä pääasiassa vain kävelimme ympäriinsä ja yritin tutustua alueeseen. Eilen Riikka näytti minule kuinka ruoka ostokset täällä hoidetaan ja hän näytti minulle myös kouluni. Koulussua kävimme kahvilla erään kaverin kanssa joka asuu täällä Malagassa mutta oli Lahdessa vaihtarina vuosi sitten. 

Tänään oli shoppailupäivä! En ottanut paljoa vaatteita mukaan joten minulla oli hyvä syy ostaa lisää. Hankimme myös minulle espanjalaisen liittymän tänään. 

Viimeiset kolme päivää ovat olleet ihan ok. Minulla on ollut hieman koti-ikävää, ikävä poikaystävää, mutta nyt on alkanut helpottaa. Isoin ongelma on ollut espanjan kieli. Vuokraisäntäni on mukavan oloinen, mutta en oikein pysty keskustelemaan hänen kanssaan. "Sí, Sí", "Vale", "Gracias". Minun pitäisi osata enemmän espanjaa mutta en tiedä missä tuo osaaminen nyt piileskelee. Mikä minut täällä yllätti on kylmyys. Ilma on ollut viileä, 13°C, käytän talvitakkiani ulkona. Sen on ihan ok. Mutta kun sisällä on kylmä! Tänään sain uuden lämmittimen ja olen siitä hyvin onnellinen. 

Eilen sain netin huoneeseeni. Aiemmin se ei yltänyt tänne saakka. Ensimmäisenä päivänä vietin aikaa kylpyhuoneessa iPadini kanssa. Miksi kylpyhuoneessa? Se oli lämpimin huone asunnossa (hyvä lämmitin) ja minun ei tarvinnut siellä puhua espanjaa.
